Today we went on a community walk around Mangonui visiting places where people from our whanau work. We even visited the Little Kitchen and decorated our own donuts.

We are writers. Today we are writing quietly and independently. We have 10 minutes to write as much as we can about our chosen topic. We need to look for words and sound out words we are unsure of how to spell them. We also need to keep re-reading our writing to make sure that it makes sense.

Persuasive Writing - I think...
We have been learning to write a persuasive piece of writing. We have to try and convince someone of our opinion. We started our sentences with 'I think..' and then had to try and write three reasons why.
Each day we had a different topic to write about
- Why I should get a sticker
- Why I should get a lollipop
- Which foods are good to eat
- Hats
We shared our writing by making a recording of what we wrote. We are learning to read smoothly, like we talk.

Kiwi Can - Problem Solving - Tuesday, 23 August 2016
Kiwi Can - today we are learning about solving problems. Can you see a problem in the photo? There were four photos for us to look at. We had to talk to our partner about what we thought the problem in the photo was and what we could do to help or fix the problem. Some of us are learning to tie up our shoelaces by ourselves.
MATHS WEEK - Whanau Day Friday 12th August 2016
Maths Week Whanau Day. As part of our Maths Week activities we all invited someone to come and learn maths games with us on Friday. First we had celebration assembly and then maths games in our classrooms. We all got to take a Maths Pack home to play maths games with our family.

Celebration Assembly - skip counting in 2's, 10's and 5's as part of Maths Week. Today at Celebration assembly we shared our skip counting skills. We started off really well with our 2's and 10's. We still have a bit to learn when skip counting in 5's.

Today is dress up day as part of Book Week. We dressed up as our favourite book character. We had Robyn, The Cat in the Hat, Superman, Fairies, Spider-Man, Catman, a Farmer, Ben 10, a Pirate, Incy Wincy Spider, Poi girl and a Princess.

Nga Ringa Awhina at Mangonui Post Office - Friday, 19 August 2016
Today Nga Ringa Awhina walked down to Mangonui Post Shop to post our letters to Luca. We needed a stamp and sticker on our envelope. It will take 4-10 working days to get to Luxembourg.

We went to the shop and we got some lollies to put in the envelope for Luca. - Taniora

Day and Night - Friday, 1 July 2016
We are learning about warm and cold colours in art today. Our theme is day and night. We really liked our picutes because they had heaps of warm colours for day and cold colours for at night time. We coloured them in with crayon and painted over our pictures with dye.
